STUDIES CONDUCTED WITHIN THE GENERAL DIRECTORATE OF İSKİ BETWEEN 1994 AND 2002

  • The studies aiming at supply of water until the year 2040 to İstanbul province were completed.
  • % 90 of the wastewater was treated in treatment plants, leading to clean coasts and rivers.
  • Haliç was rehabilitated and brought to its old blue times, which was awarded as the biggest environmental project of the world.
  • 600 plants were taken into operation in 8 years.

STUDIES CONDUCTED WITHIN THE GENERAL DIRECTORATE OF DSİ BETWEEN 2003 AND 2008

In the years between the years 2003-2008, 457 plants were taken into operation by the General Directorate of DSİ.

Among 457 projects;

  • 124 are Dams and Ponds,
  • 89 are for Irrigation purposes,
  • 21 are for the Supply of Drinking, Utilization and Industrial Waters,
  • 217 are Environmental and Flood Protection Facilities,
  • Additionally; 6 are for other purposes (transportation and social facilities).

With 457 plants;

  • Irrigated agriculture was introduced to 608.000 hectares of land.
  • 2 billion 373 million kilowatt-hours (kW-h) of annual energy production was obtained by the 6 hydropower plants completed (total installed capacity of 764,2 MW).
  • Drinking water of good quality was supplied by 21 drinking water plants to 10 million citizens in the 15 provinces in water distress.
  • 213 flood protection facilities were put into service with an aim of preventing the disasters of floods and torrents. With these facilities, 12 provinces and 534 county towns, allocation units and 116.515 hectares of land were protected from floods.
